Itaewon

So after a very fun night of dancing in Seoul, I went to bed at the not-so-wee hour of 7am, only to rise at 10am to go into Itaewon with some friends. Itaewon is a very cool part of Seoul that has really great shopping (inside and out), and is overrun with westerners (and GI's from the US Army base in town). It was really strange to me, even after only a month here in Korea, to see all those white people.

One of our first stops was the Foreign Food Mart where I bought 2 lbs of old cheddar. YUM-MY. Expensive, yes, but worth it, in my opinion.
Right next to it is an phenomenal English bookstore with new and used books. I picked up a copy of Michael Moore's "Stupid White Men (and Other Sorry Excuses for the State of the Nation)." Thus far (page 3), I find his style a bit in-your-face, but it should be an entertaining and informative read.

I got a kick out of this section:
We had lunch at a place called "Gecko's" which offered western fare. I love Korean food, but I have never enjoyed a cheeseburger and fries so much. I think it beat most cheeseburgers back home. We then went to Insadong, a colossal electronics market. You can fill any electronic need you may have in this multi-level, expansive place. I tried to capture the atmosphere of the place, but it just doesn't come through. Oh well, have a look-see anyway:
And don't forget all the pirated movies, music videos, and TV shows you could ever want:
And for the ride home, we got to be subway sardines.
